Everything you need to know about Commercial HVAC system

Introduction of Commercial HVAC

HVAC stands for Commercial heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning units. These systems contain three significant elements; a heating unit to provide heat, a cooling unit to provide cool air, and a duct to move the air. These systems are devised to move air, either cooling or heating, but the purpose is to provide a comfortable environment in the indoor space. The humidity is maintained at a moderate level. Commercial HVAC is no different than residential ones. However, they work better on a larger scale. When this system functions well, it decreases the odor and prevents harmful gases, mold, and mildew growth.

How do they work?

The working of HVAC depends upon whether they provide cooling air or heating one.

  • Cooling

The cooling process initiates with the refrigerant. The purpose is to eliminate heat from the environment and cool the atmosphere. The refrigerant begins off in the gas form, and while raising the temperature, it is compacted by the compressor. Then the chemical moves into a condensation coil. Now it’s the time to release the heat outside of the environment. Blower transfer the warm air on the outside. The gas will be turned into a liquid. When the gas turns into the liquid, the liquid start cooling. It later turns into a gas, and this is how the process goes on until it approaches the selected temperature.

  • Heating

In the heating process, a thermostat plays a significant role. It has to send a signal to the furnace in order to enhance the temperature within the environment. The exchanger will be heated by the heat of the gas burner. This heat will be turned into the air because it itself flows via an exchanger.

The heated air will be pushed by the fan and a motor through the system. There is ductwork in this system that works by supplying it to the whole building.

  • Ventilation

Ventilation is actually a thing that plays a crucial role because heating or cooling is not possible without ventilation. The fresh air is enabled by the ventilation into the commercial property. If the ventilation system is not there, harmful and odor gases will come along with mildew and mold. Many flues and pipes are used by vents to perform their function. Vents will release and bring air into the space by opening and closing when required.

Parts of the HAVC System

There are many parts used for the commercial HVAC system. All these parts need to be maintained in order to work properly.

  • Thermostat

The whole HVAC system is controlled by the thermostat. It performs its function by sending signals to cool or heat according to the required temperature.

  • Furnace

When you need a heating environment, the furnace is highly crucial as it is a part where the heat comes from the system. It requires regular maintenance to work perfectly.

  • Refrigerant lines

Refrigerant plays its role when you need a cooling environment as it takes the heat outside from the atmosphere and makes it cool. Without refrigerant, one can’t get a cooling environment through an HVAC system.

  • Ductwork and Vent

The air is moved around the building through vents and ductwork. When the air needs to travel an extended way, ductwork and vent are highly crucial. They work specifically by closing or opening to provide heating or cooling temperature.
