Interior design trends to freshen up your home

Last year saw upscaling furniture and pastel colours become some of the top home interior trends, but as people’s taste and requirements change what can we expect to be big in 2017?

Here, home interior specialists Baytree Interiors give their predictions on what is set to be big this year.

Natural Colours

Both Pantone and Dulux have chosen natural colours as their respective colours of the year. Dulux has opted for Denim Drift, a relaxing shade of blue which is great for small rooms as it creates the illusion of more space, whilst providing a great basis for experimenting with different hues with soft furnishings and furniture.

Pantone, on the other hand have chosen Greenery as their colour of the year for 2017. This vibrant shade of green is more suited to creating pops of colour throughout the room with feature walls and soft furnishings and is great for bringing the natural colours of outside in.

Multi-functional Furniture

Denim Drift

Our homes are now used for a multitude of functions such as entertaining or relaxing and multi-functional furniture is a great choice. Extendable tables and fold up chairs are just some pieces that you can incorporate, ideal for creating a multi-functional space.

Upholstered headboards are also seeing a resurgence in the home interior sector. Not only can upholstered headboards add colour and texture to a bedroom, they can also create a focal point and add that wow factor to a room.

Technology

Technology is ever advancing and for many has been integrated into our homes. Smart TV’s, remote control heating and connected entertainment systems are now the norm, but there is a new wave of technology that is soon to be a staple in the home.

Smarthome

Virtual personal assistants such as Google Home, Amazon Echo and Lenovo’s Smart Assistant have become popular over the last year and this trend will only get bigger. These devices allow users to use voice recognition to play music, check the weather conditions and be kept up to date on the latest news.

This year we will also see the emergence of Blue-tooth enabled appliances that can shape every aspect of our lives; these include smart coffee machines that have specific users so that you can brew the perfect cup every time and toasters that can perfectly toast your bread by using a Smartphone app.
